\n Cornwall\u2019s towns and villages are being offered help from National Grid to create or improve green spaces that can be enjoyed by communities.\n <\/p>\n

Support is\u00a0available\u00a0to develop\u00a0parks,\u00a0gardens,\u00a0open spaces,\u00a0raised\u00a0flowerbeds\u00a0and\u00a0living walls\u00a0in public areas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

National Grid Electricity Distribution\u2019s\u00a0(NGED)\u00a0Community Matters Fund<\/a>\u00a0is also offering money to improve accessibility to green spaces\u00a0by creating paths,\u00a0ramps\u00a0and seating.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Projects boosting\u00a0biodiversity, such as bee hives, ponds, tree,\u00a0hedge\u00a0and wildflower planting will be supported too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Community Matters Fund is offering grants up to \u00a35,000 for registered charities, while unregistered\u00a0organisations\u00a0can apply for up to \u00a32,000.\u00a0Applications close at 5pm on Friday 26 June.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Access to green spaces is widely recognised for\u00a0being mentally\u00a0and physically\u00a0restorative,\u00a0reducing\u00a0stress and\u00a0anxiety.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Projects supporting under-served or vulnerable groups to overcome barriers to\u00a0benefiting\u00a0from\u00a0natural settings\u00a0are\u00a0particularly encouraged\u00a0to apply\u00a0to the fund.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Laura Bartle, NGED\u2019s\u00a0Head of\u00a0Environment\u00a0and Sustainability, said:\u00a0\u201cAs environmental challenges continue to grow, protecting and enhancing green spaces has never been more important.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese spaces play a vital role in supporting biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience, improving health and\u00a0wellbeing\u00a0and creating more vibrant, connected communities.\u00a0We all have a part to play in caring for the environment around us and\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0proud to support initiatives that help protect and enhance green spaces for the future.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In total, NGED is offering \u00a3250,000 to support communities across the\u00a0South West, Midlands, and South Wales to enhance local environments and create healthier, more connected places.\u00a0<\/p>\n
