EPA\/ADAM VAUGHAN\" decoding=\"sync\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tScorching sun and temperatures hotter than Spain could hit the UK this week (Picture: EPA)<\/p>\n<p>The UK could <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/05\/25\/weather-breaks-record-28512606\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">see more hot weather<\/a>\u00a0towards the end of this week, although thunderstorms and <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/rain\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rain<\/a> showers are also likely to roll in.<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures in parts of England could reach 28C or higher by Thursday, with parts of the UK set to be hotter than <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/spain\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brits woke up to dry and settled <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/weather\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">weather<\/a> this morning, the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/met-office\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Met Office<\/a> said, with further cloud and rainfall possible into Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>But Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said high pressure building across the country will bring warm and humid conditions, with temperatures climbing above the seasonal average in some areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Throughout the week things are\u00a0heating up in the south and the South East. global warming and El Ni\u00f1o,\u00a0<a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/04\/15\/super-el-nino-hit-uk-this-summer-27982883\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a natural weather phenomenon that can push up temperatures<\/a>, as the main drivers of the warmer summer weather, the Met Office said: \u2018An increased chance of hot conditions implies a greater-than-normal chance of heatwaves.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Met Office\u2019s outlook also mentions that there will be higher chances of a wet season but stresses that \u2018near average
