{"id":64068,"date":"2026-06-16T11:17:17","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T11:17:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/64068\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T11:17:17","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T11:17:17","slug":"compass-strengthens-executive-team-with-new-appointments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/64068\/","title":{"rendered":"Compass strengthens executive team with new appointments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Compass Group UK &amp; Ireland has expanded its Executive Team, with new appointments and roles, reflecting the company\u2019s growth ambitions and focus on client delivery.<\/p>\n<p>These new appointments detailed below follow on from the appointments of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmj.co.uk\/leadership-hires-at-compass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sophie Smith, Chief People Officer and Michelle Sanders, Chief Growth Officer<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmj.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/David-Turner-CTO-Compass-Group-UK-Ireland.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170904\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-170904\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/David-Turner-CTO-Compass-Group-UK-Ireland-266x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"300\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-170904\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Turner joins the business as Chief Technology Officer<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David Turner, Chief Technology Officer<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turner will lead the company\u2019s digital transformation across technology, data, and cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He joins from Virgin Active where he was Group CTO. With close to 30 years of experience, Turner has held senior roles across healthcare, retail, leisure, and financial services. Notably, he was CTO for NHS England during the pandemic, where he worked alongside teams to deliver the NHS COVID-19 app and national vaccination systems. Prior to that he was Group CTO at William Hill, leading major cloud and agile transformation programmes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charlie Brown, Executive Director, Strategic Accounts<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Having successfully headed up the education business for the past six years Brown, the previous CEO of Education, is moving to a new role as Executive Director, Strategic Accounts. He will oversee a newly created team dedicated to supporting clients. The team will work to deepen relationships, drive innovation, with a focus on delivering exceptional service and value.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Karl Atkins, CEO, Education<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Atkins has been appointed as CEO of Compass Group UK &amp; Ireland\u2019s Education business. Atkins previously headed up Foodbuy Group for the past six years, where he transformed the business, accelerating the growth of the Group Purchasing Organisation (GPO) and building a resilient supply chain. This expertise, along with his personal passion for nutrition and education, will enable him to provide valuable insights and support to education clients. Atkins will be responsible for Chartwells, Chartwells Higher Education, Lodestone House and Pabulum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gareth Sharpe, CFO, Compass Group UK &amp; Ireland and CEO, Foodbuy Group <\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sharpe, CFO, Compass Group UK &amp; Ireland, will also be taking on the additional responsibility of overseeing Foodbuy Group. He already has a deep knowledge of Foodbuy\u2019s operations, and will continue to drive Foodbuy\u2019s purchasing power of over \u00a32 billion across 70 categories.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commenting on the new appointments, Robin Mills, CEO, Compass Group UK &amp; Ireland said:\u00a0\u201cI would like to welcome David to the team, as technology continues to shape the foodservice industry, this is a great time for David to come onboard, and I have no doubt he will be a great asset to our business. <\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur business is going through a significant period of growth and it\u2019s essential our Executive Team has the right depth and expertise, as we continue to evolve and innovate.
