{"id":65108,"date":"2026-06-17T17:38:21","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T17:38:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/65108\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T17:38:21","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T17:38:21","slug":"bae-systems-to-build-more-paladin-howitzers-for-us-army","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/65108\/","title":{"rendered":"BAE Systems to Build More Paladin Howitzers for US Army"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The US Army has awarded BAE Systems a $535-million contract for the production of additional <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/03\/17\/m109-howitzer-paladin-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Paladin tracked self-propelled howitzers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the second order following Washington\u2019s five-year framework announced in September 2025 to acquire the vehicle\u2019s latest M109A7 configuration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first purchase under that program was <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/01\/22\/us-army-paladin-howitzers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">executed in January 2026<\/a> with a price tag of $473 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the Paladins, both contracts incorporate M992A3 platforms, which are field artillery ammunition replenishment variants of the mobile artillery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe M109A7 Paladin is a battle-proven platform that delivers what Soldiers need to succeed on today\u2019s battlefield,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baesystems.com\/en\/article\/bae-systems-awarded-contract-for-continued-production-of-m109a7-paladin-self-propelled-howitzers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> Dan Furber, combat mission systems vice president of artillery programs at BAE Systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith its reliable performance and robust industrial base, the Paladin ensures our troops have the firepower and support they can count on when it matters most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The M109A7 Paladin<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Paladin\u2019s M109A7 architecture is built with \u201cshoot-and-scoot\u201d capability to neutralize targets and move out of their firing position within 1 minute to escape potential return fire, maintaining sustained lethality during combat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its 155-millimeter cannon is supported by a 12.7-millimeter machine gun and aluminum alloy armor, enhancing both firepower and survivability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vehicle measures 20 feet (6 meters) long, weighs 84,000 pounds (38,102 kilograms), and is operated by a commander, a gunner, a loader, and a driver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paladin runs with a four-forward drive transmission and a 675-horsepower engine to achieve speeds up to 38 miles (61 kilometers) per hour and a range of 186 miles (299 kilometers).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
