Hundreds of England fans defied police in the US as they bought more than 5,000 beers at a Texas pub as the Three Lions are due to begin their World Cup<\/a> campaign against Croatia.<\/p>\n

Supporters headed to the Londoner Pub in Dallas wearing fancy dress and St George’s flags as the venue advertised a later closing time.<\/p>\n

However, fans were ordered to move on by bar staff and two police officers just before 10pm due to the venue reaching its maximum capacity and only two security guards being on duty.<\/p>\n

While the pub was eventually cleared, many supporters remained on the balcony outside the building for another couple of hours.<\/p>\n

A total of 2,352 bottles of beer were sold at the Londoner on the night, with more than 5,000 beers drunk overall. The pub made more than \u00a330,000 on the evening.<\/p>\n

As supporters persisted, dozens of Dallas Police Department vehicles lined the road outside the pub for around 20 minutes, as the English fans chanted loudly.<\/p>\n

All police vehicles then moved away to a nearby area and out of sight.<\/p>\n

Fans also spend about an hour kicking a football up and down the road and the balcony, with the ball occasionally landing on the bonnets of nearby cars.<\/p>\n

A very small group could also be seen dropping plants off the edge of the balcony.<\/p>\n

At the end of the evening, many England fans stayed to help bar staff clean up mess created during the course of the evening.<\/p>\n

The event started with supporters creating a sea of St George\u2019s flags, turning out in fancy dress and singing popular chants as they braved the hot Dallas sunshine.<\/p>\n

Organiser John Gallivan, 39, from Bristol, told the Press Association the scale of Texas had made it far harder for fans to find each other than at previous tournaments in Europe.<\/p>\n

He said: “America\u2019s massive, it\u2019s so big, so vast. When we go to Europe, it\u2019s really easy \u2013 you know where you\u2019re going to be. You don\u2019t have to ask, you don\u2019t have to look, you just know where we\u2019re going to be.<\/p>\n

“In America, that\u2019s impossible \u2013 so the whole idea of today was to just find somewhere, get them to put a deal on the beer and then advertise it.”<\/p>\n

No police officers were present at the event earlier in the day, as chants of “It’s coming home” and “Don’t take me home” broke out as more fans arrived..<\/p>\n

Bristol Rovers fan Mr Gallivan said the event had grown far beyond his expectations after sharing it on social media.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve been here since 4pm and it\u2019s been grand. I feel sorry for the bar staff,” he said. Mr Gallivan said many regular England supporters had been unable to make the trip because of the cost of attending the tournament.<\/p>\n

He said: “I think the way Fifa have managed it, it\u2019s been disgraceful. We\u2019ve been dealt a bad hand. We could have brought so many more out here, but sadly they\u2019ve been outpriced.<\/p>\n

“People that I spent time with in Albania and Latvia and had a really good night with, who go home and away, they\u2019ve been priced out of it and that\u2019s not right. They shouldn\u2019t have been.”<\/p>\n
