Police were called to junction 27 of the <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/m6\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">M6 <\/a>at Charnock Richard at around 9.35pm on Friday, April 3, following reports that a man had fallen from a bridge onto the southbound carriageway where he was hit by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and then a Vauxhall Adam.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The man was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition as of yesterday, April 4, morning. The drivers of both the HGV and the Vauxhall stopped at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">No arrests have been made, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/lancashire-police\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Lancashire Police<\/a> said, and they are being treated as witnesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The force also said it has voluntarily referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to having contact with the man earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Officers closed the motorway in both directions but it has since reopened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The man is described as being in a life-threatening condition and police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Sgt Joe Calvert, from our Road Policing Unit, said: &#8220;As a result of this incident, a man is currently in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
