Several high street takeaways, convenience stores and vape shops across the capital failed to pay at least \u00a325,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">They also failed to make a full disclosure when <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mylondon.news\/all-about\/hmrc\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">HMRC <\/a>launched its investigation, leading to a number of penalty fines. More than 150 names were listed as part of the UK-wide action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Kevin Hubbard, HMRC&#8217;s Director of Small Business and Individuals, said: &#8220;Too many high streets have businesses that are undercutting their honest neighbours by failing to pay the tax they owe. That is unfair to compliant businesses and to the communities they serve, and we are determined to tackle it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Among those named are takeaways, convenience stores and other high street businesses from across the UK \u2013 a reminder that HMRC&#8217;s work to tackle non-compliance reaches into every part of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">HMRC plans to make over 30,000 interventions in 2026-27 to tackle tax fraud and criminal activity on the high street.
