Picture: Chris Vinson<\/p>\n<p>The issue is currently being investigated by Dover District Council (DDC), which removed masses of metal during beach replenishment works earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to KentOnline, Cllr Chris Vinson (Con) has urged residents to be cautious when swimming in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very concerned by the danger posed by jagged metalwork that has been exposed by the sea in Walmer beach, particularly in the hot weather when I know many are cooling off in the sea,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Second World War heritage of our coastline is an important part of our community\u2019s rich history, but sadly, some of its legacy remains dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge residents to take the utmost care when swimming in the section south of Granville Road, near Walmer Castle, until the hazardous metalwork is cleared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Walmer representative added his concerns have been reported to DDC\u2019s asset maintenance team.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 232 183\" alt=\"Cllr Chris Vinson has warned residents to be cautious after metal was exposed at Walmer seafront. Picture: Dover District Council<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the local authority said: \u201cWe advise people to exercise extreme caution in the area at this time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have taken immediate action to mobilise machinery to get this removed as soon as possible and will be putting up cautionary signage to warn the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to look into this matter and will continue to monitor the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An excavator is expected to be on site tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A warning has been issued after jagged metalwork was found exposed at a popular seafront.
