I was completely serious about having a cake picnic, but wasn\u2019t sure if anyone else would actually turn up.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>But when the big day arrived, her fears were assuaged, as 183 people showed up with sweet treats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And pretty soon, cake lovers around the world were begging her to bring the event to their country too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SEI_303481036-3887.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28982978\" alt=\"Cakes laid out on a table at a Cake Picnic event in San Francisco\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tNo cake, no entry to the event (Picture: Cake Picnic\/Angela Jazmin Studio)<\/p>\n<p>Working with her boyfriend and Cake Picnic co-founder, Danny Knight, Elisa began hosting more events, with one strict rule: No cake, no entry.<\/p>\n<p>The event has since gone global, with a Cake Picnic Tour even taking place this year with stops in <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Mexico<\/a> City, Melbourne, San Diego, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/new-york\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Yo<\/a><a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">r<\/a><a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/new-york\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">k<\/a>, and <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/los-angeles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And on July 5, Cake Picnic will be happening in <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">London<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This will be the second time the event has headed across the pond to the UK, after a sell-out session in Greenwich Park in 2025, and around 500 people are expected to attend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"607\" height=\"911\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SEI_303482111-6857.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28983076\" alt=\"A cake at a Cake Picnic in Sydney\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tGuests are encouraged to bring the best cake they can make (Picture: Cake Picnic\/Elisa Sunga)<\/p>\n<p>The exact location of the 2026 event is currently being kept under wraps, only being disclosed to ticket holders upon purchase.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Various two-hour sessions are running throughout the day, with tickets costing $50 (\u00a338). The price includes entry to the event and bottomless cake during their time slot. And when we say bottomless, we\u2019re not exaggerating.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As every guest is required to bring a cake, there will be hundreds of cakes on offer throughout the day, and attendees are given a cake box, which they load up with as many slices as they\u2019d like.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The most popular cake flavours are ube, black sesame, pistachio, and passion fruit. Hope you had the most delicious birthday! \ud83d\udc90 Thank you to my buddy Sophie @allday.cake for all the cake fun \ud83d\udc96 . . . cakepicnic londoncakepicnic cakepicniclondon freshcreamcakeslondon chocolatepuddingcake freshlybakedcakes cakeparty cakecrew cakesinsummer<\/p>\n<p> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c original sound - cakepicnictour - cakepicnictour\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/original-sound-cakepicnictour-7524754922827434783?refer=embed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u266c original sound \u2013 cakepicnictour \u2013 cakepicnictour<\/a>   <\/p>\n<p>In terms of rules for the event, all of the cakes have to be a minimum of eight inches wide and three inches tall.<\/p>\n<p>Some people have raised concerns about food safety and hygiene, as the event involves eating food made by strangers, but Elisa stresses they\u2019ve not had any issues with food poisoning at events before.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018There is a risk, as it\u2019s a potluck-style, community event \u2013 everyone is bringing their own cake,\u2019 she explains.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018However, we do encourage people to bring their best cake, and we share instructions on how to bake safely and how to safely transport cake too.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A message on the event website states: \u2018We want to eat well. Please only bring cakes that you are absolutely excited about and would be proud to share with others. If you have never baked a cake before, you should practice baking several cakes before the event to prepare. Courtesy of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tThe events have been a huge success, and now Cake Picnic has gone global (Picture: Gary Sexton)<\/p>\n<p>Cake Picnic London tickets have unfortunately now sold out, but there is a waitlist online that people can join.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also good news for those who missed out on a ticket, though, as Elisa is hoping to bring the event back to London very soon \u2013 and possibly hold picnics in other major UK cities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I really want to do more events in the UK,\u2019 she reveals. \u2018We did an <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/australia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Australia<\/a> tour this year, and it was so fun to visit several cities there and see the differences in cake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve found that British people really love cake and have such a passion for it, so I think we could definitely do a multi-city tour in the UK at some point, visiting London and another city like <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/manchester\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Manchester<\/a> or <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/bristol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bristol<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>So keep your eyes peeled for updates!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And if you can\u2019t wait for cake, Elisa recently released a cookbook inspired by brilliant bakes she\u2019s tried at Cake Picnic over the last two years, with a guide for hosting your own picnic. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"879\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SEI_303482487-f043.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28983191\" alt=\"Cake Picnic: Recipes for the Love of Cake &amp; Friends by Elisa Sunga Photographs ? 2026 Andria Lo Published by Chronicle Books\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tThe event has even inspired a book (Picture: Chronicle Books\/Elisa Sunga)<\/p>\n<p>Named after the event itself, recipes inside the book include a Sour Cherry &amp; Pistachio Buttermilk Cake, Chocolate &amp; Earl Grey Whipped Cream Cake, Roasted Apple &amp; Sesame Upside-Down Cake, and a Pretzel S\u2019mores Cake. Yum!<\/p>\n<p>These are all creations she\u2019s learned to bake along the way, as she only took an interest in baking during the pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018I started baking in March 2020, when the whole world was making banana bread and sourdough, and I fell in love with it,\u2019 she says. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve shared some of my own cake creations in the book, as well as some of the ones I\u2019ve seen on tour, plus a mini guide for hosting your own, smaller, picnic in your back garden or living room.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The book launched last month, and Elisa still can\u2019t believe it\u2019s real. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m still so surprised by how much of a phenomenon Cake Picnic has been. It\u2019s unbelievable. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018There are moments when I just pinch myself, like, what do you mean this girl is touring the world because she wants to eat cake?!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She adds: \u2018It\u2019s also been so fun and heartwarming to see people come together to enjoy cake in this way. We\u2019ve had people travel from all over the world to attend these events, and they\u2019re people of all ages too \u2013 from kids to great-grandparents.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I think that in our society right now, we spend so much time doomscrolling and rotting, so it\u2019s nice to have an event that not only forces you to use your hands, get creative, and make a cake, but also get outside and touch grass\u2026 literally!\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Do you have a story you\u2019d like to share?
