{"id":74197,"date":"2026-07-01T13:43:21","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T13:43:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/74197\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T13:43:21","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T13:43:21","slug":"stage-details-in-full-for-2026-tour-of-britain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/74197\/","title":{"rendered":"Stage details in full for 2026 Tour of Britain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The exact route for the 2026 Tour of Britain men&#8217;s cycling race has been announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Riders will set off on 2 September, travelling through Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, before finishing in Scotland on 6 September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They will take on 565 miles (910km) of racing across the stages, with major ascents including the 656ft (200m) climb up the cobbles of Michaelgate in Lincoln.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Jonathan Day, director of events for British Cycling Ventures, said the team had designed a &#8220;fantastic route that will ignite the race and create a memorable spectacle for all involved&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Stage one: Lincoln<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The tour will start in Lincoln on Wednesday 2 September. It will be the first time the men&#8217;s race has taken place in the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Riders will leave the city centre and head out into the Lincolnshire Wolds, making their way through Market Rasen before heading through Caistor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The route will make its way past Waddingham and Ingham before heading back to Lincoln.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Cyclists will then tackle the renowned Michaelgate climb five times during the final circuit in the city centre, taking in the Lincoln Grand Prix circuit.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"A map of Lincoln showing a route highlighted in green.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"678\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/418655516dde70e77bfeaee4c801bea7.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Stage one will take place in Lincoln [British Cycling]<\/p>\n<p>Stage two: Boston &#8211; Skegness<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Thursday 3 September, the peloton will start in Boston, riding past Coningsby, through Woodhall Spa, Horncastle and Wragby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The route will then intersect stage one of the course, going into the Lincolnshire Wolds before heading to Louth and through Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It will hit the day&#8217;s last ascent near Langton Hill in Horncastle, before a sprint into Skegness.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"A map of Boston and Skegness showing a route highlighted in green.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"679\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/5ae4687022e935d178593336ee32e798.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Stage two will start in Boston and finish in Skegness [British Cycling]<\/p>\n<p>Stage three: Hull &#8211; Beverley<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Racers will depart from Hull on Friday 4 September, riding across the east coast through Withernsea, Hornsea and Skipsea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The peloton will face a series of climbs as they travel through Burton Agnes and Driffield before heading downhill into Wetwang.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Once they reach Beverley, they will ride a four-passage circuit before finishing at the racecourse.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"A map of Hull and Beverley showing a route highlighted in green.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"679\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/233082cd4632001e1bbf3f7b60d7ce0c.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Stage three will start in Hull and end in Beverley [British Cycling]<\/p>\n<p>Stage four: Helmsley &#8211; Leyburn<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Saturday 5 September, riders will take on one of the hardest stages of the tour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Starting in Helmsley, the race will head through Easingwold, Boroughbridge and Ripon before entering the Yorkshire Dales National Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Climbing out of Greenhow Bank, riders will make their way through Grassington, Wharfedale and towards Buckden and Cray.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The peloton will face another ascent up Kidstones before heading to Aysgarth Falls. They will then tackle the climbs of Greets Moss and Grinton Moor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The day will finish in Leyburn, which is hosting a tour finish for the first in Leyburn [British Cycling]<\/p>\n<p>Stage five: Earlston<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Earlston is also another location hosting the race for the first time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Riders will depart from Smailholm towards Kelso, but will turn off just before the town to travel through Hume, Greenlaw and Duns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They will then face the Lammermuir Hills and pass Whiteadder Water before taking on a climb to Redstone Rig and Duddy Bank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Heading back towards Earlston, riders will complete two circuits before the race finishes and the next men&#8217;s champion is crowned.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"A map of Earlston
