YAOUNDE, Cameroon \u2014 The European Union is exploring the creation of a Western steel alliance with the United States and the United Kingdom to counter China\u2019s industrial overcapacity, EU Trade Commissioner Maro\u0161 \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d confirmed on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWouldn\u2019t it be better to have among the very important economic actors, or G7 countries \u2014 or between the U.S. and the EU to start with \u2014 [a] common approach to address the global overcapacities [so we] can ring-fence our steel industry?\u201d he said on the sidelines of a World Trade Organization ministerial conference in Cameroon.<\/p>\n
