They came to celebrate, certainly, but also to stand together at a moment when LGBTQIA+ rights feel increasingly fragile \u2013 see: the ripple effects of Donald Trump\u2019s attacks on diversity and equality programmes fuelling a corporate retreat from Pride, with donations to charities such as Stonewall reportedly halving over the last financial year; or Reform-led councils banning Pride flags from civic buildings, restricting access to council-run spaces and withdrawing funding for local celebrations \u2013 leaving many determined to reclaim the public space they have been made to feel afraid to occupy.<\/p>\n<p>And so British Vogue dispatched photographer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/gallery\/paris-fashion-week-eurostar-street-style\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elliott Morgan<\/a> to capture the mood on the ground, beginning at <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/queerwasalwayshere\/?hl=en-gb\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/queerwasalwayshere\/?hl=en-gb&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/queerwasalwayshere\/?hl=en-gb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Queer Was Always Here\u2019<\/a>s takeover of Boys, Boys, Boys, where founders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/QK_u5ml5cCs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sebastian Croft<\/a> and Connor Jessup were hosting a pop-up for their Geordie Campbell-designed T-shirts \u2013 among this year\u2019s more tasteful Pride collaborations, alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/tags\/erdem\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Erdem<\/a>\u2019s collaboration with Gay\u2019s the Word and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/tags\/jw-anderson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JW Anderson<\/a>\u2019s exhibition of late 20th-century erotica from Physique Pictorial. What he found as he travelled through Soho Square and on towards to Piccadilly was a cross-section of baby queers in shrunken Hollister polos, drag queens in waist-whittling corsetry, lesbians in cargo shorts and Timberlands, dolls in Carrie Bradshaw-style tutus and kitten heels, and the white-vest-and-bermuda-shorts uniform of gay men everywhere.
