An elderly man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The horror knife attack happened in the Partington area on Tuesday evening (July 7). Police said officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Heather Walk at around 6.05pm.<\/p>\n

Officers were also spotted on nearby Walnut Road, with the air ambulance reportedly landing in the area amid the incident. A 72-year-old man was rushed to hospital from the scene.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said he suffered a stab wound. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.<\/p>\n

A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, the GMP spokesperson added. A man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.<\/p>\n

Police said the incident was ‘isolated’ with no wider threat to the public. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Heather Walk in Partington at around 6:05pm last night (Tuesday 7 July 2026).<\/p>\n

“A 72-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a stab wound. A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and a man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.<\/p>\n

“Scenes remain in place and enquiries are ongoing.
