Now, the mercury is on the rise once again, with 34C reached on Monday as the third heatwave of the year took hold.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the forecast for the next few days?<\/p>\n
According to the Met Office\u2019s latest forecast (as of 9pm on Wednesday), daily peak temperatures will stay above the 28C threshold for an official heatwave through until the start of next week.<\/p>\n
After that, temperatures are predicted to drop slightly, with 27C forecast for Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n
If this pans out, it would mean London will have basked in an eight-day heatwave. <\/p>\n
Temperatures are expected to reach 34C in the capital on Thursday, before dropping slightly to 31C and into the high 20s over the weekend. <\/p>\n
Warm conditions are expected to last into the weekend but with increasing humidity and a growing risk of showers and thunderstorms. <\/p>\n
Could the heatwave last even longer?<\/p>\n
BBC Weather\u2019s Chris Fawkes, speaking on BBC Radio 4\u2019s Today on Wednesday, said current forecasts mean the heatwave is likely to be \u201cincredibly long-lived\u201d in parts of the UK.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cSomewhere in the UK is likely to reach 30C not just through the rest of this week., through the weekend but through the whole of next week as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
