Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was discovered at a park in a suitcase, close to where a teddy bear hunt event for children had been taking place.<\/p>\n

Police were called to Borstal Recreation Ground in Rochester yesterday, and officers remain in the area today.<\/p>\n

The Met is leading the investigation after receiving a report of a potential murder in Kingfisher Court, Wimbledon, just before 11pm on Thursday (July 9).<\/p>\n

Officers attended the scene, but no one was found in the property.<\/p>\n

After carrying out a search, they believed someone had come to harm at the address, and an investigation was launched.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the Met was told that two men, aged 27 and 32, had attended Medway Police Station in Gillingham.<\/p>\n

They were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.<\/p>\n

Officers attended a wooded area at Borstal Recreation Ground, and a man was found dead in a suitcase.<\/p>\n

Although formal identification is yet to take place, detectives believe they know the identity of the victim and have contacted his next-of-kin.<\/p>\n

The victim and the two men arrested were known to each other.<\/p>\n

A third man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and has since been bailed.<\/p>\n

One resident, who did not want to be named, had been at the park at a teddy bear hunt for a local nursery fundraising event when the alarm was raised.<\/p>\n

She told KentOnline: \u201cI saw the luggage before the police. I was with my niece and nephew, so I was busy keeping them from seeing it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I saw was the suitcase covered in hundreds of flies. I actually heard the buzzing from them first. I noticed that it was a large suitcase and had a snow sledge next to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Ben Dalloway, who is leading the investigation, said: \u201cOur thoughts remain with the victim\u2019s family, who are understandably distraught at their loss. We will continue to offer them every support.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a fast-moving investigation, and we are working tirelessly to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.<\/p>\n
