The deal will be funded through debt alongside equity to be injected by Aditya Birla Renewables\u2019 parent <a rel=\"dofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/grasim-industries-ltd\/stocks\/companyid-13696.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Industry#href\" target=\"_blank\">Grasim Industries Ltd.<\/a> and Global Infrastructure Partners, according to a company statement.The financing underscores the growing role of Japanese lenders in backing large <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Industry#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/cross-border-acquisitions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">cross-border acquisitions<\/a> involving Indian companies. MUFG has emerged as one of the country\u2019s most active acquisition financiers, capitalizing on robust deal activity and rising demand for offshore funding.<\/p>\n<p>In May, MUFG was among the three original lead banks backing <a rel=\"dofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/sun-pharmaceutical-industries-ltd\/stocks\/companyid-9134.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Industry#href\" target=\"_blank\">Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.<\/a>\u2019s $12 billion acquisition financing, one of the largest such deals involving an Indian company. The Japanese behemoth, which surpassed Toyota Motor Corp. to become the most valuable firm in its domestic market this week, has also signed a pact with the <a rel=\"dofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/state-bank-of-india\/stocks\/companyid-11984.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Industry#href\" target=\"_blank\">State Bank of India<\/a>, the country\u2019s biggest lender. <\/p>\n<p>MUFG will down-sell a portion of the loan later once the loan syndication is launched, said the people. <\/p>\n<p>The deal comes as India\u2019s acquisition financing market is gathering momentum. The Reserve Bank of India has recently taken steps to allow local lenders to finance as much as 75% of the acquisition value of corporate takeovers.
