in their 20s are moving to Manchester in droves after big-name social media stars like <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/molly-mae-hague\/index.html\" id=\"mol-c36f6430-31cd-11f1-8cf3-834a64976fd6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Molly-Mae Hague<\/a> and Zoe Sugg (who goes by Zoella) first glamorised the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">This is allegedly because the city affords creators, who may not have ultimate influencer Molly-Mae&#8217;s social clout,\u00a0the &#8216;<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/london\/index.html\" id=\"mol-c36f6431-31cd-11f1-8cf3-834a64976fd6\" class=\"class\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">London<\/a>\u00a0lifestyle for less&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Alex Bown, the founder of Manchester-based content creation agency Campfire, said: &#8216;The rent is 50 per cent cheaper in Manchester.\u00a0You can start living a very good lifestyle much earlier in life.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Media expert Chad Teixeira agreed that influencer culture has moved firmly away from London and towards Manchester because it &#8216;provides a far more sustainable foundation&#8217; You get to create your content and avoid getting in people\u2019s way.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Influencer hotspots include industrial-chic Onda Pasta Bar on Oxford Road, Egglslut on Deansgate and Morning Glory in the Northern Quarter, as well as Acai &amp; The Tribe \u2013 an endlessly Instagrammed cafe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Another reason\u00a0Manchester has found favour with up-and-coming content creators is that there is &#8216;strong and growing ecosystem across fashion, beauty and e-commerce&#8217; to leap-frog off of.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;With major digital-first brands, agencies, and creative talent based there, influencers have direct access to collaborations and opportunities without needing to be in London,&#8217; Chad explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">For instance, fast fashion brands like Boohoo, PrettyLittleThing, and Luxe to Kill, which leverage influencer marketing to bolster sales,\u00a0are all based in Manchester.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In February, London-based social and influencer publishing agency Jungle Creations <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"class\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prolificnorth.co.uk\/news\/london-social-agency-and-publisher-opens-up-full-time-in-manchester\/\">opened a permanent office in Manchester<\/a>, as a top company executive hailed the city&#8217;s &#8216;deep pool of socially native talent&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Manchester is now also home to studios like <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"class\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/thelumiroomstudio.as.me\/schedule\/a3ac074d\">The Lumi Room<\/a> \u2013 equipped with &#8216;two content rooms&#8217; as well as a makeup room, lighting, and kitchen amenities \u2013 that can be booked on an hourly basis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A one-hour session costs as little as \u00a335, whereas a comparable booking in London will set you back by \u00a3100, The Times reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But access is only one side of the coin; Manchester\u2019s rise as an influencer hub reflects a broader shift in the creator economy away from scale and towards substance, according to Chad.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Brands are now moving away from pricey collaborations with influencers like Molly-Mae \u2013 who reportedly earns as much as \u00a360,000 for a sponsored post \u2013 to work with smaller content creators, as Alex from Campfire said: &#8216;There is a huge de-influencing going on in social media.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">He explained: &#8216;Social media used to be about seeing content based on people you are following.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;But the algorithms fuelling Instagram reels and TikTok now it is about novelty and newness and randomness. It is an interest-based algorithm which is surfacing content from everywhere.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Instead of doling out the big bucks for celebrity endorsements, lifestyle brands are spreading their budgets across &#8216;thousands of smaller creators&#8217;, Alex said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;Manchester\u2019s rise as an influencer hub reflects this broader shift in the creator economy away from scale and towards substance,&#8217; Chad said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;As brands prioritise engagement over reach, micro-influencers have become significantly more valuable, offering niche audiences, stronger trust, and higher conversion,&#8217; he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;Culturally, the city aligns with what audiences now want.
