{"id":87492,"date":"2026-07-21T17:14:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T17:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/87492\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T17:14:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T17:14:10","slug":"ftse-250-facilities-manager-swept-off-london-stock-exchange-in-3-1bn-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/87492\/","title":{"rendered":"FTSE 250 facilities manager swept off London Stock Exchange in \u00a33.1bn deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tTuesday 21 July 2026 7:51 am<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00a0|\u00a0\u00a0Updated:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tTuesday 21 July 2026 8:09 am\n\t<\/p>\n<p><img width=\"742\" height=\"495\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Mitie.jpg\" class=\"media \" alt=\"Mitie logo, a prominent facilities management and professional services company\" fetchpriority=\"high\" loading=\"eager\" decoding=\"sync\"  \/>\t\tMitie has been snapped up by OCS\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mitie is set to become the latest company picked off the London Stock Exchange, after agreeing to a \u00a33.1bn takeover by UK rival OCS.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The global facilities management company agreed to pay 221.6p in cash for the firm, comprising 218.5p per Mitie share and a final dividend of up to 3.1p.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The offer price is a 44.7 premium to Mitie\u2019s closing share price on 20 July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group\u2019s board considers the terms of the acquisition to be \u201cfair and reasonable\u201d and plan to vote their own shares in favour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It \u201cunanimously\u201d intends to recommend that shareholders vote in favour as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chris Rogers, chairman of Mitie, said: \u201cThe board believes OCS\u2019s offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityam.com\/engineering-group-picked-off-london-stock-exchange-in-4-1bn-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">recognises<\/a> the strength of the business, the progress achieved in recent years and the opportunities ahead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHaving carefully reviewed the offer, the board has unanimously concluded that it represents an attractive outcome for shareholders, delivering the certainty of cash consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tRead more<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityam.com\/king-charles-cleaner-ups-dividend-after-revenue-surge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">King Charles\u2019 cleaner ups dividend after revenue surge<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OCS, which is one of the world\u2019s largest facilities management groups operating across 26 countries, said the deal would create a British firm better positioned to \u201csupport the organisations that keep the country running\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mitie\u2019s share price rocketed 40.5 per cent in early trading to 212.2p, pushing the stock up 28.4 per cent since January.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1784654050_2_thumbnail.jpeg\" alt=\"chart visualization\"\/>Buyers swarm the exchange<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deal marks yet another London listed company being snapped up by a private buyer at soaring premiums, after engineering group Rotork was plucked off the mid-cap index last week for \u00a34.1bn at a 73 per cent premium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Private equity firms and companies have also been circling large cap stalwarts. Insurer Beazley was poached by Zurich for \u00a38.1bn at a 59.8 per cent premium, while Nuveen snapped Schroders for \u00a39.9bn at a 34 per cent premium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deals, combined with an IPO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityam.com\/private-equity-firms-eye-valuation-gap-as-city-falls-to-takeovers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">drought<\/a>, are shrinking the London market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were only seven listings in the first half of the year, raising \u00a3577.2m. The total market value of the new listings reached just \u00a32.2bn, according to data from Peel Hunt.<br \/>Chief executive officer of Peel Hunt urged the government to do more to stop the trend last week after the Rotork acquisition, arguing it is weakening the \u201cUK\u2019s tax base and growth prospects\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Writing on Linkedin, Fine said: \u201cThe equity market is a strategic national asset.
