{"id":89536,"date":"2026-07-24T11:17:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T11:17:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/89536\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T11:17:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T11:17:17","slug":"niso-assures-nigerians-of-more-stable-national-grid-by-2030","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/89536\/","title":{"rendered":"NISO assures Nigerians of more stable national grid by 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has assured Nigerians that grid collapses will reduce significantly between 2026 and 2030.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NISO\u2019s general manager of research, Deji Ojo, gave the assurance in an interview with journalists on Thursday in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said NISO\u2019s technical reforms, stronger compliance measures, and collaboration with stakeholders were already improving grid stability nationwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NISO was created on April 30, 2024, by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission following the unbundling of the Transmission Company of Nigeria under the Electricity Act, 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Ojo said Nigeria recorded several grid collapses in 2024 before NISO became operational.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that only a few collapses occurred in 2025, while the 2026 incident resulted mainly from gas shortages that reduced electricity generation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, lower generation weakens grid stability, making the national grid more vulnerable to disturbances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said NISO was establishing operational frameworks to strengthen system management and improve electricity supply reliability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Ojo said grid collapses could not be eliminated because they were influenced by generation capacity and the balance between electricity supply and demand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He, however, assured Nigerians that NISO would continue implementing measures to minimise system disturbances and maintain a more stable national grid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Ojo said the organisation had strengthened collaboration with key industry stakeholders to address factors contributing to grid instability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said NISO was also deploying systems to improve real-time grid visibility for better monitoring and operational control.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, improved visibility will enable operators to detect faults early and respond more effectively, enhancing overall grid stability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(NAN)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gazettengr.com\/donate\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"display: inline-block;
