HSBC announced on Monday that it will hire more than 100 artificial intelligence specialists as part of plans to expand the adoption of AI across its global operations.<\/p>\n
The banking giant said that the new roles would support a Global AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore, due to launch in the second half of 2026. The centre will develop AI capabilities that can be scaled across HSBC\u2019s international network.<\/p>\n
New hires will work alongside chief AI officer David Rice and teams including wealth management and global payments solutions.<\/p>\n
HSBC said it aimed to build expertise in natural language processing, data science, AI governance and human-centred design, working with educational institutions and government bodies in Singapore.<\/p>\n
The centre will initially focus on improving conversations across customers\u2019 wealth journeys, introducing agentic treasury solutions and developing AI-enabled digital payments.<\/p>\n
HSBC said it was integrating AI throughout its business to become a simpler, more responsive and better-connected bank, while providing employees with the tools and training needed to use the technology. It stressed that AI deployment would retain strong governance, human oversight and accountability.<\/p>\n
Group chief executive Georges Elhedery said: \u201cThe new AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore will help drive our global AI vision \u2013 to empower our colleagues to use AI to create a personalised experience for each customer, deliver it safely, in real time and at scale, while keeping human judgement, decision-making and accountability at the core.\u201d<\/p>\n
