The new 300,000<br \/>\nsquare foot site, on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in the heart<br \/>\nof the UK&#8217;s life sciences &#8220;Golden Triangle,&#8221; will be home to GSK&#8217;s<br \/>\nR&amp;D operations in the UK and more than 1,000 GSK<br \/>\nscientists.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is one of the largest biomedical<br \/>\ncampuses in Europe. The new location will provide GSK scientists<br \/>\nwith direct access to a world-class ecosystem of biomedical<br \/>\nresearch, patient care and academia, enabling translational<br \/>\nresearch by bridging laboratory science with clinical<br \/>\npractice.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The GSK site will feature state-of-the-art, tech-enabled labs and<br \/>\ninfrastructure to support research in the company&#8217;s focus areas of<br \/>\nOncology, Respiratory, Hepatology, Vaccines and HIV.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is home to more than 22,000 people<br \/>\nworking in life sciences, with more than 37,000 people visiting<br \/>\nevery day. More than 1 million patients are treated on the campus<br \/>\nevery year, and over 470 biopharma\/ biotech and AI companies are<br \/>\nlocated there. These include many existing GSK partners and<br \/>\ncollaborations, such as, the Cambridge Centre for Data-Driven<br \/>\nDiscovery; Cambridge-GSK Translational Immunology Collaboration;<br \/>\nCambridge-GSK Metabolic Science Collaboration; Cambridge Immune<br \/>\nAgeing; GSK-Teichmann Lab; and GSK&#8217;s Clinical Unit at Addenbrooke&#8217;s<br \/>\nHospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Luke Miels, Chief Executive Officer, GSK, said:\u00a0&#8220;This<br \/>\ninvestment will accelerate our R&amp;D and help us deliver new,<br \/>\ncompetitive products. With our<br \/>\nexisting connections and experience, we see this move as a catalyst<br \/>\nfor faster, bolder medicines discovery by accelerating the science<br \/>\nthat matters most for GSK&#8217;s next wave of<br \/>\nmedicines.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The site in Cambridge, currently in development by Prologis, will<br \/>\nbe part of GSK&#8217;s wider UK network of collaboration with leading<br \/>\nacademic institutions and pioneering scientific organisations,<br \/>\nincluding the University of Oxford, Kings College London, Imperial<br \/>\nCollege, the University of Manchester, Wellcome and the Crick<br \/>\nInstitute.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the planned move to Cambridge, GSK will vacate its<br \/>\nR&amp;D site at Stevenage, Hertfordshire, with a phased move for<br \/>\nemployees by 2029.
