Ten locations across London<\/a> have been singled out for cash that will be used to clean up waterways<\/a> and promote wild swimming<\/a>. <\/p>\n A total of \u00a31.8 billion has been pledged by water companies, boroughs and charities, with City Hall adding a further \u00a32.7 million across three years on top of the \u00a313.6 million already promised.<\/p>\n The money will be used to build new parks, clean up waterways and improve wildlife habitats. <\/p>\n Sir Sadiq told the Standard: \u201cWe’ve identified 10 locations across our city where we want to see swift progress. <\/p>\n \u201cSwift progress in reducing pollution, swift progress in reviving nature, but also swift progress in revitalising and restoring access for local communities to those blue and green spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy Mete Coban, London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Tottenham MP David Lammy visit West Reservoir in Hackney<\/p>\n ES<\/p>\n The ten areas which will receive cash are: <\/p>\n Barnet, Brent, Harrow, Ealing, Hounslow<\/p>\n Sewage pollution will be minimised by removing incorrectly installed plumbing pipes, alongside\u202fnew\u202fopportunities\u202ffor walking and a better\u202fenvironment for wildlife\u202fin the West London Regional Park, a new\u202fmarathon-length park spanning four London boroughs.\u202f <\/p>\n A major rewilding programme will be introduced to restore the brook to a more natural\u202fstate, creating a\u202fbiodiverse\u202f\u202friverbank.\u202f <\/p>\n Enfield, Haringey, Waltham Forest<\/p>\n Sections\u202fof lost rivers are set to be restored alongside a natural\u202f,sustainable drainage system to reduce\u202friver\u202fpollution and flood risk. <\/p>\n The River Brent at Elthorne Park in Ealing<\/p>\n Google Maps<\/p>\n Lower Lea Valley and Royal Docks<\/p>\n The waterfront\u202fwill be restored to improve access for water sports, including swimming. <\/p>\n Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham<\/p>\n Canal towpaths and the waterside will be regenerated to enable better access to the canal and more water based sports and activities. <\/p>\n Salmons Brook and\u202fPymmes\u202fBrook<\/p>\n \u202fWetlands will be created to\u202freduce pollution and risk of flooding. <\/p>\n Newham, Barking and Dagenham<\/p>\n Access to the riverside will be improved, alongside habitat restoration and\u202fwater quality\u202fmonitoring.\u202f <\/p>\n Croydon, Bromley, Lewisham<\/p>\n Wildlife habitats and improve access along the river,\u202frestoring sections\u202fof the river\u202fto its\u202fnatural state. <\/p>\n Croydon, Wandsworth, Sutton, Merton<\/p>\n The Wandle is a rare 12-mile urban chalk stream flowing from Carshalton to the Thames at Wandsworth <\/p>\n Facundo Arrizabalaga \/ LDRS<\/p>\n The rare chalk stream in the Wandle Valley Regional Park will be restored and the riverbank restored, creating fish superhighways,\u202fimproving public access and exploring opportunities to\u202frestore\u202flost rivers.\u202f <\/p>\n A new 40km riverside trail is set to be created, while the river will be cleaned
