At the time Prahm was working alongside designer Ilse Crawford, at Studio Ilse, and Norman ran his own London-based <a role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/observer.co.uk\/culture\/architecture\/article\/the-year-in-architecture\" tabindex=\"0\" class=\"is_Anchor font_caslonIonic _dsp-inline _bxs-border-box _ww-break-word _ws-pre-wrap _mt-0px _mr-0px _mb-0px _ml-0px _cur-pointer _ff-f-family _fw-f-weight-18 _fs-f-size-18 _lh-inherit _col-orange_600 _textDecorationColor-orange_600 _td-underline _textDecorationStyle-solid\" style=\"font-weight:var(--f-weight-300)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">architectural<\/a> practice focusing on residential projects from Cumbria to Fife to the Channel Islands. What started as a side project and a rescue mission to restore the property at the request of Norman\u2019s parents \u2013 they are the 12th generation to occupy the main, adjoining farmhouse \u2013 slowly evolved into something altogether more transformative. Over the years the three-bedroom dwelling, which is known as Le Clocheton (\u201csmall bell tower\u201d) for its still operational chime, has been inhabited by Norman\u2019s grandmother, Marguerite, a pair of great great aunts and a farming couple and their cow. But it then lay empty for two decades.
