{"id":97379,"date":"2026-08-04T19:15:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T19:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/97379\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T19:15:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T19:15:11","slug":"hsbc-makes-group-wide-profit-of-10-1b-in-second-quarter-the-royal-gazette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/97379\/","title":{"rendered":"HSBC makes group-wide profit of $10.1b in second quarter &#8211; The Royal Gazette"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Created: Aug 04, 2026 03:19 PM (Updated: Aug 04, 2026 03:19 PM)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1785870911_885_.jpeg\" uuid=\"b220bab1-a25c-5e60-816e-f6f08bf80200\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Bermuda operation: HSBC Holdings made a group-wide, second-quarter profit of $10.1 billion (File photograph)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Global bank HSBC Holdings announced net income of $10.1 billion for the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The London-headquartered lender, which also operates one of Bermuda\u2019s largest retail banks, said results were boosted by \u201cnotable items\u201d, as well as banking and wealth management revenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">HSBC said it will repurchase as much as $1 billion in stock after profits beat estimates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">George Elhedery, HSBC\u2019s group chief executive officer, said: \u201cHSBC is becoming the stronger bank we set out to build.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Mr Elhedery has overseen an overhaul of the group through asset sales and operational simplification. HSBC now expects its restructuring effort to yield $2 billion in total cost savings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The bank has exited 15 non-strategic businesses since 2025 and announced three sales in recent days.
