{"id":97744,"date":"2026-08-05T09:25:23","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T09:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/97744\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T09:25:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T09:25:23","slug":"bae-hosts-defense-interoperability-testing-event-in-michigan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/97744\/","title":{"rendered":"BAE Hosts Defense Interoperability Testing Event in Michigan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/britain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BAE Systems has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baesystems.com\/en\/article\/bae-systems-leads-regions-first-defense-industry-plugfest-to-advance-military-interoperability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">hosted<\/a> a defense interoperability testing event in Michigan, bringing together government and industry participants to validate how military hardware and software systems work together under open architecture standards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two-day \u201cplugfest,\u201d held at the company\u2019s Virtual Proving Ground in Sterling Heights, marked the first event of its kind in the Metro Detroit region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seven companies, alongside representatives from the US government, participated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike a typical software-focused hackathon, a plugfest tests whether systems built by different organizations can actually communicate and operate together.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using a live synthetic environment, participants worked to identify integration gaps, validate compatibility, and confirm adherence to open systems standards before the technology reaches the field.<\/p>\n<p>Focus on Open Architecture<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event centered on open systems architecture, an approach increasingly adopted by the US Department of Defense to reduce reliance on proprietary technologies and make it easier to integrate new capabilities from multiple vendors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Programs such as the US Army\u2019s Modular Open Systems Approach encourage standardized interfaces that allow components to be upgraded or replaced without redesigning entire platforms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSecure and reliable interoperability is one of the toughest challenges in defense systems development, and this event showed how we move from talking about open standards to proving they work,\u201d said Dr. Adarsh Ayyar, director of technology for BAE Systems\u2019 Combat Mission Systems business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that testing systems side by side with government and industry partners reduces risk, lowers integration costs, and speeds capabilities to the warfighter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BAE Systems said the event was designed to support wider adoption of open standards by giving companies and government organizations a venue to test interoperable technologies together ahead of operational deployment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
