The original event actually took place way back in 2001, but the 23-year wait for its return was worth it. Intended as a test of creativity and technical skill, each edition is based on a theme \u2013 and many of the imaginative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esquire.com\/uk\/watches\/g25973970\/best-mens-watches\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.esquire.com\/uk\/watches\/g25973970\/best-mens-watches\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"watches\" class=\"body-link css-1nd6fub emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">watches<\/a> produced for the previous two have gone on to become real products.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">The London leg \u2013 which runs from 27 August to 15 September \u2013 will once again be hosted at the Japan House cultural centre in Kensington Arcade. The theme for 2026 is \u2018Passionately and Obsessively Crafted Watches\u2019, with an emphasis on the details.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">\u201cThe 2026 focus is on the components of a watch \u2013 having fun with dial textures, hands or intricate watch surfaces,\u201d said Faye Lovenbury, head of marketing at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esquire.com\/uk\/watches\/g73283643\/best-new-seiko-watches-released-in-july-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.esquire.com\/uk\/watches\/g73283643\/best-new-seiko-watches-released-in-july-2026\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Seiko\" class=\"body-link css-1nd6fub emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Seiko<\/a> UK. \u201cThe aim of this exhibition is not to launch new watches \u2013 although previous popular concepts have been brought to life \u2013 but rather to give our designers creative freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">The 2024 edition showcased a model resembling a panda, a watch for masking-tape enthusiasts and even a design based on a bowl of sukiyaki, the Japanese hot-pot dish. The following year\u2019s edition was inspired by different characters, including a vampire, a ninja and a woman who\u2026 likes boiled eggs.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">But what\u2019s in store for us this time around?
