NHL insider Chris Johnston reports that the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Edmonton Oilers sniper Jack Roslovic. “Jack Roslovic is signing a two-year deal with the Leafs carrying a $4M AAV.”
Edmonton insider Bob Stauffer of Oilers Now said that Roslovic and the Oilers were in contract talks earlier this year, but nothing came of it. “I think there was a point in the season when he could have got a 4 (years) by $4.5 million deal but then it kind of went dead.”

In other Oilers news, Sportsnet’s Mark Spector reports, “Don’t rule out Kasperi Kapanen and the Oilers quite yet. Still ongoing conversations between the two sides… Connor Ingram goes to market. Negotiations with Oilers not fruitful. Would have liked to have remained an Oiler. This tells us Oilers have settled elsewhere on a netminder…With the goaltending moves made in Florida, Daniil Tarasov heads to market. A few teams interested, Edmonton among them. Connor Ingram not out of the Oilers picture yet, however.”
And Fourth Period hockey columnist David Pagnotta reports: “Several teams have interest in UFA defenceman Mario Ferraro, including the Rangers, Predators, Maple Leafs, Oilers, Kings, etc. – some teams may need to make other moves before they dive right in.”
Other former Oilers have signed elsewhere today as well.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Viktor Arvidsson signed a two-year deal with Detroit at $5 million per year.
TSN’s Darren Dreger reported that that Winnipeg Jets signed Stuart Skinner at two years, $3.75 million per year.
The Athletic’s Vegas correspondent Jesse Granger said of the Skinner deal: “s he elite? Of course not. Is he a legit NHL starter? No question. The guy played his way to 2-straight Stanley Cup Finals, and just signed for less AAV than Kevin Lankinen. Slightly more than Joel Hofer, Alex Nedeljkovic, Charlie Lindgren, etc. That’s a fantastic contract for the Jets.”
And the Journal’s Jim Matheson said, “That is excellent signing for Jets. Can’t believe the negativity around a 27 yr old goalie with 53 playoff games and two trips to Cup final when he outplayed Jake Oettinger.”
Insider Pierre LeBrun reported Corey Perry signed a one-year deal at $1 million in Los Angeles.
And New News reported that Vincent Desharnais signed for four years at $4.2 million with the Washington Capitals.
Calvin Pickard signed a one-year, $1M contract for the 2026-27 season with the Wild.
One player said to be of interest to the Oilers, Ilya Mikheyev of Chicago, signed a four year deal in Tampa Bay at $3.85 million.

My take
1. Roslovic has all kinds of offensive skill, but he’s not much of a defender and he predictably got pushed out of the game in the playoffs. He’s got just three goals in 51 playoff games.
Heading into the playoffs, I had said on the Cult of Hockey podcast that it would be no surprise to see Roslovic struggle — and that’s what happened. Some smaller, finesse players do excel in the playoffs, but it take exceptional will power and determination. Roslovic needed to play with McDavid or Draisaitl for his offensive game to shine in the playoffs, but he had been bumped out of a Top 6 role by other more aggressive players.
2. If the Oilers can bring back Kapanen, that would be good, depending on term and cap hit of course. Kapanen is one of the few players who have found excellent chemistry with Leon Draisaitl.
