We have another signing to announce within the Montreal Canadiens organization, this time on defense.
The Trois-Rivières Lions continue to build their roster for the 2026-27 season.
Defenseman Christopher Inniss has agreed to return to the club, and he is another name who could potentially be invited to the Montreal Canadiens’ 2026 training camp.
The right-shot defenseman from Longueuil had already signed his first professional contract with the Lions on April 14.
His first stint was brief.
He appeared in the final two games of the 2025-26 regular season, just enough to get a taste of the professional level, and he clearly made a strong first impression.
What the club values in him is clear.
Inniss brings physicality and a reliable presence in his own zone.
Before making the jump to the professional ranks, he spent four years in university hockey.
Playing for Concordia, he recorded 24 points in 104 games.
The Lions confirmed the news on social media:
“The Trois-Rivières Lions announce the return of Christopher Inniss!
After appearing in the final two games of the 2025-26 season with the Lions, the defenseman is back to bring his physicality and reliable presence in the defensive zone!”
His university career was about more than just points.
He helped the Stingers capture a division championship and reach the USPORTS national final.
Former QMJHL First-Round Pick Christopher Inniss Eager to Make an Impact With the Lions
Inniss was selected in the first round of the QMJHL Draft in 2017, reflecting the high expectations placed on him early in his career.
His junior career took him to several teams.
He played for the Rimouski Océanic, the Saint John Sea Dogs, and the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
His final junior season was his most productive.
Named an assistant captain, he posted the best offensive numbers of his career.
Here’s what he had to say about the signing.
“I’m very happy to join the Lions, and I can’t wait to contribute to the success of this great organization alongside its dedicated fans,” he said.
He now joins Anthony Beauregard, Mathias Laferrière, Landon Fuller, Édouard Charron, and Jake Gravelle on the roster.
