The Canadiens have been searching for a center for months.
And now, a new name has surfaced on the trade market: Morgan Frost of the Calgary Flames.
According to The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta, Frost’s name is indeed making the rounds in trade discussions.
The Flames forward is reportedly available for a trade.
Frost is far from an unknown commodity.
The 27-year-old, six-foot center recorded 43 points with Calgary last season while serving as the Flames’ first-line center!
The Canadiens are specifically looking for a center capable of solidifying their second line.
Very few quality centers are available, and Frost has suddenly become one of them, making him well worth considering.
This isn’t the first name linked to Montreal this summer.
Several centers have been mentioned, but the asking prices have often been enough to make Kent Hughes back away.
Morgan Frost could be an answer to the Montreal Canadiens’ need at center
His $4.375 million cap hit falls within a reasonable range and the acquisition cost in prospects or draft picks likely wouldn’t be too steep either.
A change of scenery could be exactly what he needs.
Many players revive their careers after landing in a new environment, and Frost’s talent has never been in question.
The Canadiens’ search for a second-line center has dragged on for far too long.
A player like Frost may not solve everything, but he would at least move the team in the right direction, and he could be an intriguing option while they wait for Michael Hage.
