Police say one location was struck by gunfire and a window was broken at another; no injuries were reported
Toronto police are investigating after a window at Kiva’s Bagel Bar, a Jewish-owned bakery chain was reportedly struck by gunfire on Sunday morning.
Police said they responded at about 8:15 a.m. to the Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue West area after receiving reports that a window of a bakery had been struck by gunfire.
Evidence of a firearm discharge was found at the scene, police said.
No injuries were reported.

About 20 minutes later, police responded to another Kiva’s location in the Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West area for reports of a broken window.
Police said no evidence of a firearm discharge was found and no injuries were reported.
Duty Insp. Scott Bradbury said police have not determined whether the two incidents are connected.
“Right now we don’t know what the connection is, other than it’s the same Jewish-owned business chain and that it happened sometime overnight,” Bradbury said.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the incidents on social media, calling the “targeted attacks on two Jewish-owned Kiva’s Bagel Bar locations” vile and unacceptable.
“We all have a responsibility to stand against hate,” Chow wrote. “I will always stand with Toronto’s Jewish community against antisemitism.”

Speaking at a separate news conference, Chow said, “Any kind of hate really has no place in Toronto.”
“We in Toronto will double our efforts,” she said, pointing to police security around synagogues, Jewish community centres and other locations through Project Resolute. “But anyone that is committing a crime should be arrested and punished.”
The Guns and Gangs Unit and Hate Crime Unit are currently investigating.
