Antione West continued his strong offseason with 14 points and four steals, Omer Mayer added 11 points and four assists and Purdue beat the University of Calgary 79-48 on Tuesday in British Columbia.

The Boilermakers, who improved to 3-0 on their trip north, held the Dinos to 33.3% shooting and a 4-for-23 mark from 3-point range. Calgary turned the ball over 17 times and Purdue held a 20-7 edge in points off turnovers.

“I like our effort in guarding the basketball,” Purdue coach Matt Painter said. “You can see that we can really grow into a good defensive team, but also be able to really hawk the basketball. If Daniel (Jacobsen) can give us that kind of rim protection, too, that combination is really good from a defensive standpoint; I thought he did some really good things.”

Jacobsen, the 7-foot-4 redshirt sophomore, posted eight points, six rebounds and four blocks.

West went 5 for 10 from the field and 2 for 4 from 3-point range as he continued to act as a primary offensive playmaker for the Boilers, scoring in double figures for the third game in a row.

“That’s who he is,” Painter said. “If you go read (my) comments when we signed him, that was before senior year of high school (and it was the same). He’s just a talented player, a good two-way player. He’s a ballhawk, he gets after it, he can be disruptive on the defensive end.

“But offensively, he’s talented. We’ll try to put him in a lot of positions just to put that threat on driving, getting to his pull-up. He’s good with the basketball, very talented player, very intelligent player.”

Gicarri Harris chipped in 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting. Guard Luke Ertel, the 2026 Indiana Mr. Basketball, collected six points and six rebounds and hit a pair of 3-pointers.

The Boilermakers shot just 7 for 28 from 3-point range as a team.

After Painter pointed to a lack of physicality on the glass as an area in need of improvement after their previous game Sunday, Purdue outrebounded Calgary 46-35 and 13-7 on the offensive end. Wing Caden Pierce led the Boilers with nine rebounds.

No player was on the floor for more than 21 minutes for the Boilermakers. They return to action for their Canadian trip finale at 2 p.m. Wednesday against the University of Fraser Valley.
