Three people charged in Belleville drug busts

Three people were charged in two drug busts in the City of Belleville on July 29, 2026.

Members of the Belleville Police Service Drugs, Intelligence and Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a local hotel in the Belleville area.

They arrested two males from the Greater Toronto Area, with both males being taken into custody without incident.

Twenty-year-old Daequane Bennett of Toronto man was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Proceeds of crime under $5000
Fail to comply with release order

Twenty-three-year-old Shayne Forrest of Brampton was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Proceeds of crime under $5000
Fail to comply with probation order

As a result, police seized:

$1,440 in Canadian currency
634.6 grams of cocaine – roughly 22 ounces
three cellphones

Shortly after, police arrested a third person at a local establishment before executing a CDSA search warrant at a downtown location.

Thirty-four-year-old Christy Fry of Belleville was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
Proceeds of crime under $5000

As a result, police seized:

$980 in Canadian Ccurrency
one cell phone
5.6 grams of cocaine
1 gram of fentanyl
