Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual following a fail to remain collision investigation.
On July 26, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on the northbound Highway 410 off-ramp at Hurontario Street, in the Town of Caledon. The involved vehicle, a black Tesla SUV, collided with a guardrail and entered a ditch, before the driver was observed fleeing the scene on foot toward Treeview Crescent.
Shortly after, officers arrived on scene, located the driver, and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
Following the investigation a 63-year old from Brampton was charged with:
Fail to remain
Operation while impaired – alcohol
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on September 3, 2026, to answer to their charges. The involved vehicle was also impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90-days
