A new face has officially arrived in town and joined the Montreal Canadiens organization.

Maksymilian Szuber took his first steps with the Canadiens yesterday morning by joining the team’s summer skates in Brossard.

The defenseman had a busy morning.

Getting on the ice the same day he signs sends a clear message.

Szuber isn’t wasting any time settling in with his new club and getting comfortable in his new surroundings.

As a reminder, the defenseman was acquired from the Utah Mammoth in June through an intriguing trade.

The Canadiens sent forward Joshua Roy the other way to acquire him.

It was a classic swap of young players between two organizations looking to give their careers a fresh start.

For Szuber, this first appearance marks the concrete beginning of his journey with the Montreal Canadiens.

These summer skates aren’t “official,” but they still matter.

A player who arrives early to settle in makes his intentions with his new club clear.

Szuber will need to compete hard to earn a spot on an already crowded blue line.

His two-way contract reflects his situation.

He could play in either Montreal or Laval, depending on the organization’s needs and his upcoming performances.

The 6-foot-3 defenseman brings added size to the blue line.

The real test will come at training camp, but these mornings in Brossard are giving Szuber a chance to lay the groundwork.
