Some Winnipeggers are welcoming spring with a swing of the club.
Golfers at Shooters Family Golf Centre on Wednesday said they’re stoked the weather is finally fair for the fairway.
“Just trying to get some Vitamin D, enjoy the sunshine, get the rust off the swing,” Chris Sitarz said.
“It’s lovely, you know. Fresh air. Got some nice trees here. Therapeutic, really.”
Winnipeg announced Wednesday its four city-owned golf courses will open for the season Saturday.
Golfers could book tee times for the Canoe Club, Crescent Drive, Kildonan Park and Windsor Park courses starting Wednesday, with the city offering special rates on green fees until May 9.

Melissa Burdy said she’s been raring to hit the links.
“Done a few rounds of virtual golf, so hopefully [my swing is] not horrible,” she said. “It’s probably not going to be great. But it’ll be awesome to be with friends, in the sun, outside.”
University of Winnipeg student Evan Biber said going to the driving range after being done with exams felt like a celebration.
“After the winter we had, it’s just fantastic to feel the sun again,” he said.
