Rush have confirmed they are capturing all four of their homecoming shows in Toronto for a new concert film.
In June, Rush kicked off their 50 Something Tour with four shows at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and have since visited Mexico City, Fort Worth, New York and Chicago, performing for multiple nights in each city.
The tour, which is their first in 11 years and first without their late drummer Neil Peart, is set to stay on the road in North America until December.
Tonight (August 7th), they are finally back on home territory, beginning their residency at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario.
Rush will perform a total of four shows over the next week, with the final concert set to take place on August 13th. However, if you haven’t got a ticket, then don’t fear because it is all going to be filmed for a future concert film.
Taking to Instagram, Geddy Lee explained why they chose Toronto, “It’s always a hard decision as to where to film a live concert. Given the limited cities we are able to play, the demand for such a film has been off the charts, not only as a keepsake of their experience, but for those many fans that have not been able to see it live.”
He continued, “Toronto being hometown made it a natural choice, and being the last mini-residency of 4 shows, playing over 40 songs which gives us the best chance to capture it all.”
The bassist acknowledged that “fans traveling here from all across the globe and that will make it a special week” in Toronto, before noting, “This tour, being a celebration of our history and a tribute to Neil has been an emotional outpouring from the fans and from us.”
Lee then had a message for fans, urging, “They have been louder and prouder than ever before, and we hope to capture them letting their ya-yas out while rockin’ their best ‘Tom Sawyer’ air drum fills!”
After their North American tour concludes, Rush will then keep the good times rolling throughout 2027 as they take the tour international, with visits lined up to Argentina, Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Canadian broadcaster CBC announced the documentary, Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple, which promises to see his Rush bandmates, Lee and Alex Lifeson, deliver “intimate heart-to-hearts” while remembering their late friend.
The documentary is scheduled to arrive on September 23rd.
