Canada Water’s dockside has transformed into one of London’s hottest entertainment destinations this summer, with Round The Dock bringing six weeks of free music, markets, performances, food, and family activities to the waterfront. Running until 30th August, the programme turns the area into an open-air cultural hub, with a floating stage, rotating weekend markets, outdoor cinema, talks, workshops, and plenty of opportunities to spend a summer evening by the water. Best of all, every event is completely free to attend, with no tickets or advance booking required.
The music programme takes centre stage, with the floating stage hosting performances across the summer from jazz and soul to gospel, Latin rhythms, spoken word, and live DJs. Steam Down will take over every Friday with its Sounds of Diaspora programme, bringing the globally acclaimed South London collective’s blend of jazz, afrobeat, hip-hop, funk, and electronic music to the dock, while Norman Jay MBE makes a special one-off appearance on 16th August. The weekend line-up includes artists such as Mark Kavuma, Sophie Faith, and Soul Sanctuary Gospel with Sofar Sounds, alongside weekly Salsa Nights with live performances from Timba Britanica, Spit Nights Poetry on Tuesdays, and Pints of Knowledge on Wednesdays, serving up short, thought-provoking talks designed to spark conversation.
The dockside will also host a rotating programme of independent markets, bringing together hundreds of traders, food stalls, makers, vintage sellers, and creative businesses across six weekends. Craft & Flea opens the programme, followed by Bottle Factory Flea, KERB x Urban Garden Fair, SoLo Craft Fair, Black Eats Takeover, and a closing weekend from Independent Label Market x N4 Makers Market, with each takeover bringing a different mix of food, fashion, records, art, and independent design. There is also plenty to eat while browsing, from KERB’s street food line-up and East Asian makers to Black-owned businesses and the handmade goods of local creatives.
Younger visitors have their own programme at Dockside Den, with free creative activities including bee nature sessions, pond dipping, drumming and art workshops, and adventure games with Sharky & George. Families can also catch outdoor movie screenings, community performances, and other child-friendly activities throughout the six-week programme, giving little explorers plenty to do between trips to the markets and waterfront stage.
Canada Water is just two stops from London Bridge, offering a change of pace from central London while remaining within easy reach of the city. Beyond Round The Dock, the wider area is home to Corner Corner, with street food, cocktails, live music, and the UK’s largest indoor urban farm, alongside Vagabond, London’s largest urban winery. But this summer, Round The Dock is the main event, with the constantly changing line-up of markets, performances, food, and culture giving visitors plenty of reasons to return to this new culture hub.
