Netflix has released a trailer for its new show Crew Girl that was filmed in recognizable areas of Vancouver Island.

The show follows a teen girl arriving at a swanky private school after “being disgraced by her father’s financial fraud” and moving to a small town with her mother. She then goes on to become the only female rower in an all-boy team, according to IMDB.

“Prepare for rivalries, romances, betrayals…and rowing!” says Netflix Canada.

The trailer released Wednesday highlights familiar spots for locals, including Hatley Castle – which appears to be a basis for the school’s location – as well as the Gorge waterway, where many rowing scenes are shot, and Elk/Beaver Lake, where filming took place multiple times last year.

In September 2025, Sidney also warned of closures for filming of the Netflix show – then codenamed Easton Prep.

The filming in Sidney included a “bicycle accident scene” and a car crash scene involving “fire and propane special effects” along Beacon Wharf.

Crew Girl premieres on Sept. 10. IMDB lists the season as having eight episodes.

The show stars Miku Martineau in the lead role, as well as Samuel Braun, Kyle Clark, Thomas Cadrot and Jessica Paré.

Just last month, another Netflix show that was recently filmed on Vancouver Island received an Emmy nod.

The lighthearted This Is a Gardening Show starring Zach Galifianakis was nominated for Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards. The winner will be announced on Sept. 14.

Another show that was filmed on Vancouver Island also received a trailer recently.

Crave’s thriller show Yaga starring B.C.-born actor Hudson Williams and Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss dropped its trailer in late July at San Diego Comic-Con.

The eight-episode mystery thriller follows a private investigator as he arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of a man who’s the heir to a powerful fishery in a re-imagining of the Slavic folk tale of Baba Yaga.

The show is slated to release in October, though an exact date has not been announced yet.
