Justin Trudeau is a supportive dad — no matter where he is! On Sunday, Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau‘s 18-year-old son Xavier — a.k.a. Xav — posted a video of his dad and girlfriend Katy Perry dancing to his new single “Downtown” in an unlikely place: the aisle of a Home Hardware!

In the video, which seems to be recorded by Perry, the former prime minister of Canada is shown in a white T-shirt, jeans, sneakers and sunglasses, carrying a plunger.

“In the Home Hardware on Saint-Laurent Street,” Trudeau said to the camera while he sings along to “Downtown,” which is playing on the radio. After a few seconds of dance moves, the camera pans over to Katy Perry, who is wearing a white T-shirt, baseball hat and sunglasses, jumping around to the song.

The video has garnered tons of reactions from Canadians.

“Was not expecting Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau to be jamming out in the Home Hardware,” said one commenter.

“So cute, OMG” wrote a fan.

“Cost of living so bad the former PM shops at Home Hardware,” joked another.

“This is so funny,” added another. “I can’t imagine the people watching them from the security camera at the store.”

However, not everyone was a fan.

“You’ve got to be f—-ing kidding me,” wrote a naysayer.

It’s the second time Trudeau has put on his dancing shoes recently. In July, the 54-year-old made a cameo on Katy Perry’s TikTok, dancing to the 41-year-old pop star’s new song “Watch It Burn.” That sparked thousands of comments from Canadians who were divided on Trudeau’s post-political career public persona.

The reaction video comes just over a week after Xav shared a video of his mom reacting to the song, calling it a “summer hit.”

“Oh my god, I love the hook — catchy beat. I want to play this in my car. Let’s get the roof off right now. This is a summer hit, baby,” she said.

In June, Xav spoke to GQ about carving his own path and dropping his famous last name. “I did feel pressured,” Xav said about his family’s storied careers. “I think that’s why I wanted to do something totally different and obviously change people’s lives, but in my own way… Building a new name for myself and being my own man was a super important thing.”

Luckily, Xav has a pretty powerful music icon — and earlier this year, he said he frequently turns to Perry for musical guidance.

“When I’m really happy with a song, [I] send it [to her],” Xav said in an April interview with the Can’t Be Censored podcast. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
