The Montreal Canadiens continue to add to their roster ahead of camp.
In this case, we’re talking about the Canadiens’ rookie camp, which is quickly approaching.
This time, Kent Hughes has added Mavrick Rousseau-Hamel, nicknamed “the Rat,” to the Canadiens’ rookie camp roster.
The 20-year-old Quebec Remparts forward stands 5-foot-10 and has never been drafted into the NHL.
His nickname says plenty about his style of play.
Last season, he recorded 27 points, along with 113 penalty minutes in 56 games.
A true agitator, the type of player who gets under opponents’ skin and knocks them off their game.
He’s the second QMJHL player invited in quick succession.
Canadiens give Rousseau-Hamel a chance to turn relentless style into a rookie-camp opportunity
The club clearly likes adding some bite to its prospect group.
Rousseau-Hamel brings exactly that kind of energy and competitiveness.
The Canadiens have a soft spot for this type of relentless player, often overlooked at the draft but ready to make an impact and leave everything on the ice.
Rookie camp gets underway in early September, just before the team’s golf tournament.
It should be interesting.
For an undrafted player, it’s a great opportunity to get noticed.
Now it’s up to him to make the most of it.
