Toronto police are alerting the public about a vehicle of interest they say is connected with shots fired at three buildings in Thorncliffe Park.
The vehicle is described as a black 2016 to 2020 Honda Civic with tinted windows and no front licence plate, police said in a news release Wednesday.
It was seen fleeing the Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard area Wednesday morning, police say, after shots were fired at an apartment building at 43 Thorncliffe Park Drive. There were no reported injuries.
Police connected the incident to another case this past Sunday at 4 a.m., when several shots were fired at two apartment buildings at 47 and 49 Thorncliffe Park Drive. There were no reported injuries in those shootings either.
The same vehicle is believed to have been used in all three incidents, police say.
Residents can expect to see increased police presence in the area, according to Coun. Rachel Chernos Lin.
She and neighbourhood officers spoke to residents about their concerns, Lin said at a news conference Wednesday.
“Between these three buildings, there are thousands of families that live here,” Lin said. “Obviously, people are worried. There are lots of multi-generational families that live here.”
“As a former school trustee and a parent myself, I really understand their concerns and fears. We need to make sure this stops.”
