A major development involving Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj.
Despite his contract situation still being unresolved, Xhekaj is officially back in Brossard this morning to skate with his teammates.
Seeing Xhekaj at practice despite not having a new contract sends a reassuring signal with official training camp only a few weeks away.
It’s worth remembering that his camp recently made it clear that the defenseman feels good in Montreal despite interest from other teams this summer.
Xhekaj and Bolduc remain unsigned as Canadiens ramp up preparations in Brossard
It also confirms the growing excitement ahead of the new season, while the intensity continues to pick up in Brossard.
Xhekaj isn’t the only unresolved contract situation with the Canadiens, as Zachary Bolduc also remains without a new deal.
We’ll continue to keep a close eye on both situations.
The group on the ice today also included Noah Dobson, whose trade last year transformed the Canadiens’ blue line, and Cole Caufield, who returned early as he usually does.
We’re very eager to see Dobson back here for a second season.
Official training camp is fast approaching, and these informal skates in Brossard are allowing the players to stay sharp and maintain a good pace.
