Severe thunderstorms tore apart sections of Toronto‘s Rogers Stadium on Wednesday, leaving rows of seats collapsed less than two weeks before AC/DC is scheduled to close out the venue’s 2026 concert season as part of its 2026 “POWER UP TOUR.”
The storms swept through southern Ontario on Sept. 2, bringing destructive winds, torrential rain and large hail. AccuWeather meteorologists had warned that Toronto was in the zone at greatest risk for severe thunderstorms Wednesday, with the strongest storms capable of producing damaging winds, tornadoes and flash flooding.

Several sections of the 50,000-seat stadium’s northern seating area were ripped apart. Photos from the scene showed blue seats overturned and sections of the grandstand collapsed into a tangled mass of metal.
Damage extended beyond the stadium. Debris was scattered around the grounds, and other temporary structures were damaged or destroyed.

Live Nation Canada said Rogers Stadium sustained “significant damage,” according to the Toronto Star. No one was injured.
“We are currently assessing the extent of the damage and will provide further information as it becomes available,” the company said in a statement.

Rogers Stadium is a seasonal, semi-permanent outdoor concert venue in North York with a capacity of about 50,000. It opened in 2025 on former Downsview Airport lands and is now in its second season.
The damage has raised serious questions about whether the stadium will be ready for AC/DC on Sept. 16, the final concert on its 2026 calendar. As of Friday morning, no cancellation or rescheduling had been announced.
