An early morning fire in a St-Henri homeless encampment on Monday injured a woman and destroyed her tent, firefighters say.
The woman called 911 around 5:30 a.m., Montreal fire department spokesperson William Murray said.
“She was woken up by a fire in her tent.”
The woman, who is in her 40s, was conscious and responsive when firefighters arrived, Murray said, but she suffered injuries to her hands and feet.
Firefighters don’t expect to determine the cause of the blaze, Murray said.
“Everything caught fire and there’s nothing left,” he said, leaving no materials for investigators.
