The Toronto Argonauts have officially ruled Chad Kelly out for Saturday’s game against the B.C. Lions. The team released its official depth chart on Friday.
The 32-year-old was a non-participant in practice on Tuesday due to an injury to his throwing hand. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday, when the team listed him as questionable for Saturday’s game. He has been placed on the one-game injured list.
The native of Buffalo, N.Y. has led the Argonauts to a 9-6 record this season, helping them clinch a home playoff game. He has completed 70.9 percent of his passes for 5,067 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions over 15 starts.

Kelly has also rushed 29 times for 183 yards and three scores. He leads the CFL in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and interceptions.
Nick Arbuckle will start in Kelly’s place. The veteran passer played 15 regular-season games in 2025 and completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 4,370 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.
The soon-to-be 33-year-old filled in for Kelly in the 111th Grey Cup and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Boatmen to a 41-24 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
This will be Arbuckle’s first start of the season. Tucker Horn will be his backup, while Paxton DeLaurent has been promoted from the practice roster to serve as the third-string quarterback.
The Toronto Argonauts (9-6) will host the B.C. Lions (8-6) on Saturday, October 3 with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EDT. The Lions are coming off a win over Saskatchewan that launched them to second place in the West Division, while the Argonauts extended their winning streak to four games with a victory over Winnipeg.
The game will be broadcast on TSN, CTV, and Crave in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 730 CKNW (English) or Sher-E-Punjab Radio AM 600 (Punjabi) in Vancouver and TSN 1050 in Toronto.
