A 16-year-old boy died after he was stabbed in his chest and abdomen, an inquest heard.
Baye Bireme Fall, from Peterborough, was attacked in Riseholme near the Ortongate Shopping Centre just before 19:00 BST on 12 April.
Coroner Caroline Jones opened an inquest in Huntingdon on Thursday. She said police had informed her the injured teenager was taken to Peterborough Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem was carried out on 16 April by Dr Anna Biddlestone at Peterborough Hospital and Jones said the provisional cause of death was a stab wound to the chest and abdomen.

In a tribute, Baye’s family described him as an “amazing” son whose “heart was pure”.
Emidas Krutkevicius, 18, from Garton End Road, Peterborough, and a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named, have been charged with murder.
They are due appear at Cambridge Crown Court on 19 May.
A 16-year-old girl from March, Cambridgeshire, has also been charged with possessing a knife/bladed article in a public place and is due to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on 13 May.
She and a 17-year-old girl were further arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and they remain on conditional bail for that offence.
Jones added that the inquest would be suspended until the conclusion of criminal proceedings.
A “peace event” was held in Baye’s memory on 18 April.
Hundreds of people came together to pay tribute and call for an end to knife violence.
The teenager’s father, Khalifa Fall, addressed the crowd and urged young people to “put down knives” and learn from the tragedy.
