PETERBOROUGH-Parks Canada is advising residents of a temporary closure of the Trans Canada Trail crossing at Lock 20 will be required on Monday, May 11, 2026, to support the removal of the temporary (“Bailey”) bridge that has been in place since November 2025.
The temporary bridge was installed to maintain safe public access while Parks Canada completed the Lock 20 gate replacement project. With the successful completion of the work, the temporary structure is no longer required and will now be removed.

Duration: Up to 4 hours beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Location: Trans Canada Trail crossing at Lock 20 – Ashburnham
Parks Canada says it appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation as we complete this final stage of the project and continue to support the safe operation and long-term sustainability of the Trent–Severn Waterway National Historic Site.
