Smith and the UCP need to postpone their fall referendum, perhaps permanently, as there is only one question that needs answering now. With no ambiguity just ask … Are you in favour of Alberta separating from Canada, Yes or No? It is time for Premier Smith and the UCP to either fish or cut bait.

EXCESSIVE CONCESSIONS
Pseudo Albertan Mark Carney has just signed an agreement with Alberta’s Premier Danielle Smith to construct a pipeline to the west coast with an exorbitant amount of concessions. The first of which is an agreement by Alberta to accept $130 per tonne carbon emissions price by 2040 and a carbon capture agreement which will cost the government of Alberta billions. He also put a stipulation on indigenous consultation to move this pipeline forward. Indigenous consultations should be like a signal light on a vehicle, it’s not asking for permission but letting you know where you intend to go. That way you can accommodate the move. To accept these conditions is beyond the pale.

GOLD MINING
Just get signed as an Edmonton Oilers coach. Be successful enough then fall apart after signing your contract extension. Get fired and keep getting paid Millions while looking for another coaching job. The Edmonton Oilers are the embarrassment of the entire NHL, for blaming coaching for their problems. Just because the two best professional players in the world are on your team, hasn’t meant anything so far chasing the Cup. What’s next for this team? Everyone just watch and sigh.

A COUNTRY IN TROUBLE
Re “’A little turbulence’ for PM” (Bryan Passifiume, May 13): So, 58% think Carney is doing a great job? Is that the laid-off autoworkers, the teens who can’t get jobs, the record number of people defaulting on loans and mortgages, or the unions and corporate welfare recipients who don’t want their bloated budget cash cow to go away? This country is in severe trouble while that smirking failure enriches all of his buddies, with U.S. dollars.
