With temperatures expected to warm up and a long weekend upon the city, multiple businesses and services will be closed on Victoria Day.

The long weekend is the unofficial kick-off to summer, prompting Ontario Provincial Police to issue reminders to obey the law. Officers will be out conducting road enforcement checks throughout the weekend.

Those venturing out for a road trip should check out the gas prices in Ottawa and plan ahead to know when to fill up.

Grocery stores

Most big chain grocery stores, No Frills, Food Basics, Independent Grocers, Metro and more will be closed on Monday, but some select locations will be open.

Several Farm Boy locations across the city will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the holiday, including:

Cornwall

Tenth Line

Trainyards

Metcalfe

Rideau

Westboro

Greenbank

Kanata

Nepean

LCBO locations will be closed on Monday. Some Beer Store locations will remain open.

Shopping malls

Tanger Outlet Mall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Bayshore Shopping Centre is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

CF Rideau Centre is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Carlingwood Shopping Centre is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

St. Laurent Shopping Centre is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Place D’Orléans is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Garbage, recycling and green bin

There is no curbside collection on Monday, and the schedule will be pushed until Tuesday, May 19.

Transit

On Victoria Day people can take advantage of the 2-for-1 Day Pass for those over the age of 13 to ride all day for $12.25.

OC Transpo buses and O-Train Lines 1, 2 and 4 will run on a Sunday schedule

O-Train Line 1 will run from 8 am to 11 pm. O-Train Line 2 and 4 will run from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Rural Shopper Route 301 will not run

Regular Para Transpo trips on the 18 will be automatically cancelled

The Rideau Centre OC Transpo Customer Service Centre will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the Monday.

City services

All Ottawa Public Libraries will be closed

City-run child centres are closed

Employment and social services are closed

City-operated museums, Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, and Shenkman Arts Centre will be closed

Gallery 112 at the James Bartleman Centre

The Barbara Ann Scott Gallery, the Karsh-Masson Gallery, and the City Hall Art Gallery will be closed
