Hockey may be Canada’s game, but it’s been some time since they’ve been crowned Stanley Cup champions.
Once upon a time, the Stanley Cup practically lived in Canada. Now, a good portion of hockey fans haven’t seen a Canadian team lift the Stanley Cup in their lifetime.
But, when was the last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup? It was the Montreal Canadiens who last held that honor over 30 years ago, as they bested the Los Angeles Kings in five games in 1993 to hoist the Stanley Cup. Since then, only seven Canadian teams have made it to the Stanley Cup Final, including the 2024 and 2025 Edmonton Oilers.
Will a Canadian team win the 2026 Stanley Cup Final and break the three-decade curse? Only time will tell!
